*Stoffers, Jno., died at Buda, 11 Jan 1910 (Lived in Gonz. from 1845 to 1900 - Made the first
brick ever made in Gonzales)

*Ligon, Mrs. W.H., (Nora Mahan - same as 4/1 but states her little boy stuck a pocket knife in
her back), 5 April 1910

*Hunter, Tom, case has been affirmed by Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin. He killed the Van
Dorns at Wrightsboro some years ago. Given 99 years in pen. Case tried in Seguin. 7 April 1910

*Haleys Comet will be seen at 8:30 Wed. nite - has a tail 15,000,000 miles - Will sweep the earth
- On May 20 will be a frightful monster in the Western shy - French scientist think it contains a
laughing gas - in quantities enough for the world to laugh itself to death. 16 May 1910

*Design for Monument "Lexington of Texas" ready. (Gives description, figure to be cast in
bronze in New York, etc.) 25 May 1910

*"Austin, Tex - May 28, Superintendent of Building and Grounds Day yesterday announced that
thru his efforts to trace the 'Twin Sisters', two Texas Independence Army guns, he discovered the
other Chambers gun in Washington D.C. which is now in use for ornamental purposes in front of
the Army and Navy Building. Through Congressman Burleson it will be returned to Texas and
brought and place with its mate now in the Adjutant General's department, in front of the state
hosue. The two cannons were given by General T.J. Chambers in the provisional government of
Texas in 1836."  8 June 1910

*Claude Bouldin was in Harwood at a picnic and dance and was "badly cut with a knife in the
throat and head". Constable Tomlinson of Waelder arrested Ernest Wilson and his brother.
(Bouldin expected to live.)

*Valenta Batula, a Bohemian at Big Hill. The parents were away from home and their 9 year old
son shot and killed his two little sister, one 5 years old, other 12 years old. No names given. 7 July
1910

*A new cement bridge was finished over Mule Creek by Mr. Neumann - First in Gonzales
County, 3 Aug 1910

*An old landmark town down - Old brick blacksmith shop opposite Methodist Church, was run
years ago by "Uncle" Jimmie Ramsey, 9 Aug 1910

*Trees in front of new Post Office being cut down; new Federal Building nearly completed, 9 Aug
1910

*Milvern Harrell Dead - Participated in Dawson Massacre - Prisoner in Mexico - Assisted Mier
prisoners (Long article talks a lot about him. Real good-K.S.), 17 Aug 1910

*Oleomargarine - long article about oleomargarine being a substitute for butter! (Didn't know it
was invented until during WWII-K.S.) 10 Sept 1910
