*Gonzales Co. Boys' Corn club organized at courthouse - 150 members, 6 Feb 1911

*Negress Wins Immunity - Emma Price was found guilty of burglary and sentended to 2 years in
State Reformatory. She was turned over to the agent along with other prisoners to be sent to the
pen, but after they got to Yoakum the agent phoned the sheriff he could not take her to the
Reformatory as it did not receive women prisoners. So whe will be granted immunity, 15 Feb
1911

*Capt. Samuel Elliot White died, gives a lot about his family, Conf. Vet., etc., died in S.C., was a
cousin to Dr. Tate of Gonz., grandfather of Mrs. A.T. Barbour and Miss Mamie Tate-K.S.)

*Ball Club for Gonzales - Sold share at 5.00 per share to build stadium on E. Ave., buy uniforms,
etc., 19 April 1911

*Early History of Gonzales County (full page). (Does not give the writer's name but very good
description of things in 1825, gives names and later on tells where houses and school was in 1831
and describes the buildings-K.S.) 22 May 1911

*Cardwell, Mrs. Annie E., History (from Galveston News) (She lived in Texas, came in 1829,
was reared in Gonzales. Her mother married Stephen Tomlinson in Gonzales. There was an "old
fort of refuge" in Gonzales for people to stay in when Indians raided.  Tells of Mrs. Dickson
coming to her house when she came from the Alamo. The most interesting story I have found
about early, early days of Gonzales. Really worth reading! K.S.) (More on Annie Cardwell story)
Her father, Thomas White; step-father, Stephen Tomlinson, step-brother, George Tomlinson.
Mrs. Dickenson brought a note from Santa Anna to 14 widows, etc. Rev. Homer S. Thrall D.D.
was first preacher in Gonzales, of M.E. Church. First Presbyterian Church held its first meeting
April 26, 1849, held in Concrete, DeWitt County. She lives with her son-in-law in Cuero - Arthur
Burns. 7 June 1911

*Catholic Church, Services held for first time in the new Catholic Church. 12 June 1911

*Special Edition - Election returns. Gives each precinct's vote on prohibition; county goes wet by
small majority. 23 July 1911

*Judge Ben W. Fly, given gift by Anti-Prohibitionists of Victoria County, a 100-piece table silver,
made by Gorham of New York. Set is solid silver and of Wreath design and the name "Fly"
engraved on each piece. Chest is of solid mahogany. (Just noted this as someone should still have
this now, I hope! K.S.), 7 Aug 1911

*Co. Judge W.B. Green called for a meeting to see about someone to take care of the Trafton
children who are living in a camp on the river. The mother died and father is in jail waiting to be
moved to an Epiletpic Colony near Alpine. 23 Aug 1911

*(Writer speaks of the tree that C. McElroy was hung by a mob in 1879. This tree is just west of
my house and called the "hanging tree". My grandmother told me about it when I was a child, but
she never told me why they hung h9m or who he was - Kathleen Spring) 31 Aug 1911

*Hall, Mrs. M.E., (article copied from Lockhart. It says she was cruelly murdered in Gonzales
Monday by her husband J.R. Hall. Wonder why Inq. Didn't tell about I? K.S.) 13 Dec 1911

*All these last papers I read are still advertising the Opera House - and gives the plays and
companies that are playing. Still does not say where it is - K.S.
