*Inquirer of Long Ago - Jan 30, 188? (can't read). Skulls and skeleton of a number of bodies were
found in the river bank just above the watering place. A Gescheidle boy found a skull of a man
and parts of other skeletons. All bones were decayed and crumbled when touched. Guessed it was
an old Indian graveyard. 30 Jan 1920
*Inquirer of Long Ago - 1886 Inquirer, Geo. Burgess - W.M. Atkinson went to Peach Creek to
camp & hunt. Atkinson hid in brush and started calling turkeys. Burgess thought it a real turkey
and shot Atkinson. He sustained painful wounds to head, neck and shoulders. Resting easy, but
some of the shots have not been removed yet. 26 March 1920
*Inquirer of Long Ago - "From an old Inquirer: Fourth courthouse is history of Gonzales County.
First one was made of clapboards. One or two windows, a stick chimney, made of stick and
daubed with mud. It stood near where the Methodist parsonage now stand. (Long article - some
of the happenings then - K.S.) 323 April 1920

San Antonio". Guadalupe river will be used for power for new road and central station will be at
Oak Forest, will pass through the towns of Richmond, Wharton, Yoakum, Gonzales, Willow

*Highways - Graveling of Highway No. 3 from Guadalupe County line to City limits is complete,
