Grenwelge
Cemetery
5 mi. E. of Castell on CR 152 - private
property
(G. F. GRENWELGE Cemetery) - Llano, Co.,
TX
Submitted by: Rhoda Schmidt, great-great
grandaughter of G.F. Grenwelge.
The Leiningen #2 Lutheran Church, on
Charles Grenwelge land south of the Llano River,
was built around 1905 or 1906. Records show that Charles Grenwelge, son of
George
Friederich and Johanna Grenwelge, deeded
the property to the church on 2/21/1907.
Another name for the Leiningen Church is
the Zion Lutheran Church. Close to the
church
was the cemetery known as the G.F.
Grenwelge cemetery. After the church
burned, St.
John Lutheran Church was built near
Castell in 1925. Only the cemetery
remains.
