John Lafayette Bird

JOHN L. BIRD, 74, BURIED AT LORAINE
LORAINE, OCT. 8 ~~ Funeral for John Lafayette Bird, 74, who died Saturday in
Bowie, was held Sunday at the Loraine Methodist Church. Burial was in the
Loraine cemetery.
Mr. Bird was born in Mississippi on November 26, 1861. He was married to Juli
Belle Smith in Falls county in 1888. Mrs. Bird died at Merkel in 1903. He moved
with his three children to Loraine in 1906 and had made his home there since
then. He had lived with his younger daughter, Mrs. H. W. Hallmark at the time of
his death. Mr. Bird died in the Bowie home of his son, J.R. Bird.
Other survivors are: a daughter, Mrs. Betty Seivally of Corpus Christi; eight
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Bell King, Miss Daisey Dees, sisters of Mrs. J.R. Bird, and Mrs. D.M.
Vinson, of Abilene attended the funeral.
