COLORADO CITY ~~ Irmin Eugene Blassingame, 19, drowned in a small stock tank about 11:45 a.m. Sunday on the Dell Barber farm 5 miles northwest of Colorado City.
Blassingame was on a Sunday outing with his father, Troy Blassingame of Colorado City, his stepmother, Mary Blassingame and C. M. King when he left the others and went to the stock tank where he was shooting ducks.
King said the youth fired four shots and he (King) and the others went to the stock tank and found that the young man had disappeared. The sherrif's department, fire department and others went to the scene and attempted rescue operations.
The body was found at 1:20 p.m. and was taken to the Franklin-Britton Funeral Home. Justice of the Peace, Leonard Henderson investigated the accident and said that he planned to return a ruling of accidental drowning.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Franklin-Britton Funeral home with evangelist Thomas Franklin officiating.
Burial will be in the Colorado City Cemetery.
Blassingame was born in Amarillo July 11, 1952.
Survivors include his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Blassingame of Amarillo; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Zona Kinsley of California; his father and stepmother; his mother, Mrs. Wayne Harris of Keller; one brother, John of California; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Alford of Dallas, Mrs. Mike Merolee of Austin and Kellie Blassingame of Keller.
