SAN ANTONIO -- Jane Allison Brennand, age 91, went home to her Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. She was our beloved mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother, and we are blessed to have shared in her
life.
Jane was born on September 11, 1919, in Greenville, South Carolina, the daughter
of Margaret Booker Allison and Warren Samuel Allison. She grew up in Richmond,
Virginia, where she began her lifelong walk with the Lord, attending church,
Sunday school, and church camps in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Jane attended
Furman University in Greenville, and during World War II moved with her family
to Washington D.C. It was there that she met her wonderful husband of 56 years,
Harold Douglas Brennand.
Jane and Harold began their married life in New Orleans, Louisiana, where they
built a beautiful marriage founded on faith, anchored in their beloved Rayne
Memorial Methodist Church, and focused on their girls, Allison and Ann. Jane was
active in many organizations in New Orleans: The Orleans Club, New Orleans
Country Club, the Ladies Golf Association, McGehee School, the Petit Salon,
Saint Anna's Home, Stuart Clan, Stock Club, Daughters of the American
Revolution, the Colonial Dames, and Rayne Memorial Methodist Church where she
served in many capacities.
Jane had a love of learning that lasted her whole life. She was an avid reader,
historian, speaker, genealogist, and author of a book on her family history, and
she shared these loves with her friends and family. She was admired wherever she
went as evidenced by the strong friendships she made in New Orleans, Houston,
and most recently in San Antonio. She had the gift of making everyone feel
special, and one of her greatest joys was sharing the beautiful roses from her
garden. The times Jane spent in West Texas at the ranch were some of her most
cherished memories, for she saw God's hand in the beauty around her and His
glory in the Texas sunsets.
Her treasures on earth were her family and friends, and her memory will live on
in our hearts forever. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Douglas
Brennand; her parents, Margaret and Warren Allison; her brother, Robert B.
Allison of Atlanta, Georgia and her sister, Lois A. Eisinger of Potomac,
Maryland.
She is survived by her daughters, Allison Brennand George and her husband,
Dawson George of Houston, and Ann Brennand Watson of San Antonio; and her
grandchildren, Kathryn George Murray and her husband, Sam; Douglas Barrett
George and his wife, Katherine; Emily George Seiders and her husband, Rick;
Robert Glen Watson and his wife, Lacey; Carey Watson Hildebrand and her husband,
David. Mama will be missed by her great-grandchildren: Jane, Margaret and Claire
Murray; Haylie and Madeline George; Gray Seiders; Emmy and Thomas Watson;
Jackson, Harton and Hudson Hildebrand.
Psalm 91:16 "With long life I will satisfy her, and show her My salvation."
Following a private burial service in Colorado City, a memorial service was held
Mon., Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San
Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rayne Memorial
