William Connie Darden, 43, Colorado City farmer, died Wednesday at 7:40 a.m.
in Houston after a year long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Plainview Baptist Church near
Colorado City at 3 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Douglas Crow, former pastor and
the Rev Maple Avery, present pastor of the Plainview church officiating.
Mr. Darden was born November 15, 1907, and had lived at Colorado City for
five years. He had married Pauline May in 1930 at Inadale, Texas. He was a
member of the Plainview Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Shurtleff, Buford Howell, Graham Howell, Richard
Howell, Ray Howell, Marcus Vest and Houston Shurtleff.
Survivors include Mrs. Darden; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Darden of
Clyde; nine children, five sons, Dempsey, Wayne, Kenneth, Walter Lee and
Eddie; four daughters, Patsy, Ila Ruth, Betty Lou and Paula Jean. In
addition he is survived by five brothers, J. T. Darden of Abilene, Cecil
Darden of Colorado City, Dempsey Darden of Clyde, O. C. Darden of Loraine,
O. B. Darden of Pyron and two sisters, Amelia Darden of Clyde and Mrs.
Emmett Griffith of Roscoe.
Burial will be in the Lone Wolf Cemetery about seven miles north of Loraine
under direction of Kiker and Son.
