Georgie Irene Hazle, age 88, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009 in
Abilene. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 4:00
p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dana Mayfield
officiating. Burial followed in the Colorado City Cemetery.
Georgie was born on April 12, 1921 in Lubbock to Christopher and Dovie
Bessent. She was a life-time resident of Mitchell County and a member of
the First Presbyterian Church in Colorado City. Georgie was a member of the
Spanish American War Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.
She leaves behind her son, Doyle Hazle and wife, Cleo of Valley View;
daughter, Nancy J. Britt of College Station; seven grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren
Georgie is preceded in death by her husband, John D. Hazle in 1983.
