Charles Lafayette Lee, one of the early day settlers in Loraine, died at his
home here, Thursday, April 18, 1957 of a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 4 P.M. Friday, April 19, at the First Baptist
Church with the Rev. G. A. McGee officiating, assisted by Rev. W. D. Green
and A. C. Polk.
Mr. Lee was born October 30, 1881 in Dallas, County. He was the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. G. W. "Tobe" Lee. The family were among the early settlers
in Loraine, coming here in 1897. He was preceded in death by his parents;
three brothers, Edward Lee, Jim Lee and George Lee.
He married Miss. Audna Gill October 14, 1916. After retiring from farming
south of Loraine, Mr. and Mrs. Lee moved to town in 1951.
Survivors include his wife, Audna Lee of Loraine; three sons, C. L. "Chock"
Lee, Jr. of Midland, Joe Lee and Doyce Lee, both of Loraine; five daughters,
Mrs. Mack W. (Christene) Pyle and Mrs. Curtis (Joyce) Baker of Midland, Mrs
Rita Reeves of Odessa, Mrs. Raymond (Melba) Ackerman of Tularosa, New
Mexico, and Mrs. Paul (Thelda) Geron of Sweetwater; one brother, Jess Lee of
Loraine.
Pall bearers were nephews, Homan Lee, Olan Lee, Raymond Lee, J. C. Freeman,
Burdette Lee, and George Manuel Lee. |
