SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Lavell Abbott 1910-2000 LUBBOCK -- Snyder native, Lavell J. Abbott, 89, of Lubbock died Tuesday, July 25, in a private care home. Service was to be held this morning in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church with D.L. Lowrie and the Rev. John H. Ballard officiating. Burial was to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Mr. Abbott was born on Nov. 25, 1910 in Snyder and moved to Lubbock in 1918 where he graduated from Lubbock High School. He also graduated from Texas Tech in 1935 with a degree in electrical engineering. He married Gladys Hindman on June 1, 1940 in Lubbock. Mr. Abbott, retired, was owner of Abbott�s TV and Abbott�s Meter Lab. Active and receiving awards in many civic organizations, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Abbott of Lubbock; two sons, Bob Abbott of Big Spring and David Abbott of Ivory Coast, Africa; a daughter, Jeannie Stuart of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
