Gary Abney 

1946-2000 

ANDREWS -- Gary Lynn Abney, the brother of Virginia Lee Brim of Snyder, died Saturday, Sept. 30, in Permian General Hospital in Andrews. 

Funeral service for Mr. Abney, 53, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the McNett Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mike Henson will officiate, and burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. 

Born Nov. 14, 1946 in Foreman, Ark., he married Lupe Bermea on June 30, 1989 in Andrews. 

A longtime resident of Andrews, Mr. Abney was employed by Basic Energy Services. 

Survivors include his wife, Lupe Abney of Andrews; a son, Larry Abney of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Gina Bunch of Austin and Lori Abney of Andrews; a stepson, Ricky Saldana of Santa Rosa, N.M.; his mother Rosalie Abney of Andrews; a brother, James Robert Abney of Andrews; another sister, Dorothy Jean Burton of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
