SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Roland Bell 1917-2000 William Roland Bell Jr. of Fort Worth, a Snyder native, died Friday, Aug. 11, in Mariner Healthcare of Arlington. Graveside service for Mr. Bell, 83, is set for 4 p.m. Sunday in Snyder Cemetery. The Rev. Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born on June 4, 1917 in Snyder, he married Hortense Ely. She died Sept. 30, 1994. Mr. Bell owned and operated Bell Flower Shop and Nursery and operated the Western Union, a taxi service, and was a Railway Express agent. Mr. Bell was a longtime agent for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Known as one of Snyder�s most colorful citizens, he was well-known as an inventor, including a bow-tying machine. He is a past-president of the Snyder Lions Club and a former member of the Snyder First Baptist Church. He also was preceded in death by his parents, William Roland and Minnie Ethel Ficas Bell; and a brother, Ficas Bell. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Hobbs of Fort Worth, and two grandsons, David Hobbs and Daniel Hobbs.
