SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Carmen Hobbs 1913-2000 Carmen Hobbs, a Hermleigh area farmer, died this morning in Cogdell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral service for Mr. Hobbs, 87, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Born June 9, 1913, he married Ophelia Mayfield on Jan. 5, 1935 in Henderson County. She died on Sept. 19, 1984. He married Mattie Layne Kimbrough on Aug. 27,1985 in Roby. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Hermleigh. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Hobbs of Snyder; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Phyllis Hobbs of Joshua; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mickey Winter of Snyder; two stepsons, Wendell Kimbrough and Terry Kimbrough, both of Odessa; three brothers, Albert Hobbs of Athens, Jimmy Hobbs of Houston and Roy Hobbs of Big Spring; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
