J.P. Lloyd 

1917-2000 

NASHVILLE, Ark. � John P. �J.P.� Lloyd, a former Scurry County resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, in a Nashville hospital. 

Funeral service for Mr. Lloyd, 82, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel with B.B. Harding officiating. Burial will follow in Langley Cemetery. 

Born Dec. 2, 1917 in Cuthbert, he was the son of the late Walter and Effie Mae Butler Lloyd. 

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Lloyd served in Company G of the 142nd Infantry, 36th Division that was composed of numerous Scurry County residents during World War II. 

A farmer and rancher, Mr. Lloyd lived in Howard County for 34 years before moving to Nashville. 

Survivors include his wife, Rachael Hartness Lloyd of Nashville; a brother, Claude Lloyd of Andrews; three sisters, Estelle Murphy and Ida Mae Webb, both of Snyder, and Helen Davis of Gun Barrel City; a sister-in-law, Merle Hartness Morphew; and a number of other relatives including nephews Kent Morphew and Gene Hartness.
