Vergie Martin

1921-2004

COLORADO CITY -- Vergie Martin, a former Snyder resident, died Friday, Feb. 13, in a San Angelo hospital.

A memorial service for Mrs. Martin, 82, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kay Reed officiating.

Born Oct. 19, 1921 in Clarksville, she married Bill Martin on Oct. 7, 1937 in Dunn. He died Sept. 26, 2000.

Mrs. Martin moved from Snyder to Colorado City in 1990 and was a former custodial technician for Birdwell Oil Co. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Martin also was preceded in death by her parents, Milt and Vida Shoffner; a daughter, Patsy Geiger; a brother, Milton Shoffner; and two sisters, Loie Standefer and Irene Martin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Buck and Nancy Martin of Somerville, Ala; a son-in-law and his wife, Dale and Leslie Geiger of Colorado City; a brother and sister-in-law, Odis and Paulyne Shoffner of Amarillo; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, I.E. and Roselle Martin of Snyder; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
