SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Marie Roberts 1925-2000 ANDREWS � Marie Roberts, whose family owns an interest in the Snyder Daily News since 1976, died Monday, July 10, at her home in Midland following a lengthy illness. Funeral service for Mrs. Roberts, 74, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Second Baptist Church in Andrews. The Rev. Ivy Shelton, pastor, and Sharon Suttle, a family friend, were to officiate. Burial was to follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Born Aug. 6, 1925 in Rising Star, she moved to Andrews in 1939, graduating from Andrews High School in 1944. She had worked for Humble Oil Co. and then as office manager for Carl S. Ham Well Service, both in Andrews. She married James W. Roberts on April 18, 1946 in Andrews. They moved to Waco and then returned to Andrews in 1950. Mr. Roberts, publisher of the Andrews County News and president of Roberts Publishing Co., died Dec. 20, 1997. Roberts Publishing owns an interest in the Snyder Daily News as well as in newspapers and printing plants in Andrews, Azle, Brownfield, Gatesville, Granbury, Hereford, Lamesa, Quanah, Seminole, Springtown and Vernon. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Andrews Study Club and the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Phillip Roberts of Waco and Randall Roberts of Andrews; and four grandchildren, Blake Roberts, Brittanie Roberts, Karley Roberts and Penny Nichols.
