Lake Como Cemetery

Inventoried November 1997 by
Penny Brewer Blankinship & Grant R. Daniel

Lake Como Cemetery is located in the 5800 block of Helmick Avenue which runs eastward one block north of the Bryant Irvin Road and Vickery Blvd. intersection. The cemetery is still in use, not fenced, and some of the headstones are broken. Halloran Street borders the east side of the cemetery. The entrance to the cemetery is marked by a wrought iron arch that was donated 5 July 1987 by the Como Alumni Club, Inc.

[The headstones were copied beginning with the row nearest Halloran Street and were read from front to back. Rows 1 through 12 are to the left of the ornamental archway and Rows 13 through the end are to its right. When I proofread this inventory in May 2003, I found that all of the broken markers mentioned below were now gone. There are numerous graves throughout the cemetery that remain unmarked and many scattered rocks that may have marked graves at one time. Outside of mowing, it is apparent that little maintenance is performed here. - Rob Yoder]

Note: Highlighting indicates double headstones.

I found your inventory of Lake Como Cemetery online. My grandmother, Juanita B. SMITH, was buried in the cemetery in 1987-1988. She was never given a marker. How do I find out who maintains the cemetery so that I might be able to get records of where she might be located? Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
