Day Cemetery

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers moved the graves from this cemetery and four others during the construction of Benbrook Lake. The new resting place was the Merinda Seminary Graveyard, now known as Benbrook Cemetery. All of the information on this page was abstracted from the Corp of Engineers 1949 report titled "Cemetery Relocation Plan, Benbrook Dam and Reservoir."

Day Cemetery was once located approximately 700 feet eat of the Wheatland School and about 900 feet southerly from the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. U. S. Highway 377 crosses the Clear Fork of the Trinity River near the aforementioned school.

The Day Cemetery is a private burial ground situated on privately owned land. It is a small rectangular plot of ground situated southeasterly from the day barn. It is enclosed with an iron pipe railing approximately 30" high. The cemetery is in fair condition.
