I am a descendant of Beverage Lawrence who is buried in this cemetery. I first visited the cemetery in 1960 and at that time the property it was on was owned by Zelma Lavender, Rt 4, Box 9, Azle, TX. I made numerous trips back and saw the many changes taking place in this area. There is much development and I feel that probably the cemetery has been moved or destroyed, however I don't know that. I was told by a relative that Beverage's grave had been moved, but could never verify that information. I am assuming it is still in place until I find other information.

There was a second tombstone at the time of my first visit that of Helen Emley Franks b. July 4, 1867, d. 3 Sep 1873. Later I was unable to find that tombstone. I estimated there were 20 to 30 graves the first time there, but later couldn't find near that many.

On a list of Cemeteries in Tarrant County: All known burial sites (an annotated List) compiled by Duane Gage, Chairman, Tarrant County Historical Commission, copyright 1986 there is listed "Lawrence Cemetery - located on the south side of Timberline Road, east of Boyd Road in rural northwest Tarrant County. An elegant Tombstone for Beverage Lawrence, b. Mar 10, 1836, d. July 30, 1876, is the only legible marker. Several unmarked stones are scattered nearby."

I would very much like to see this graveyard preserved in some manner, but who knows, it may be too late. The above from the Historical Commission is the only official recognition of the cemetery I have ever seen. Beverage was my great grand father! I live at Granite Shoals, TX, near Marble Falls. I will gladly do whatever is necessary to help locate the cemetery!

The Boyd road referred to is FM 730 and just on the north edge of Azle is Timberline road. Go east on timberline road only a mile or two and the cemetery is to the southeast within a mile. Sorry but after east on Timberline road is all by sight. The last time I was there gates were all locked and I didn't get to the cemetery.
